Why?

One of my classmates from high school passed away on Friday 2/24/12.  She was a reformed addict and had been clean for a long time but had been unable to kick alcohol.  She died of cirrhosis of the liver.

Some of my other classmates proposed to meet up at the local bar to celebrate her life.

Doesn't it seem a bit ironic that they would celebrate her life over what killed her?
