Want free furniture, a place to stay, or even a bike? Thanks to the Internet, it's fairly easy to find a wide variety of free products and services.

Dozens of websites are dedicated to helping you locate stuff your neighbors want to unload, opportunities to swap what you no longer need, ways to find giveaways from businesses, and more.

Obviously, seeking out free stuff is great for your budget, but it can also be good for the planet. Reusing things, for example, keeps valuable items out of the landfill and saves the resources needed to make a new product from scratch.

Here are some of the best ways to find free stuff:

• Log onto Freecycle and other reuse groups to search listings of items being given away by people in your town.


• Craigslist has a whole category dedicated to "free stuff" for each of its participating cities. Find everything from cardboard boxes to electric sewing machines to computer games.

Being sick stinks . . .

especially during the holidays. I was sick for Christmas and am sick again this week. Two of the girls have managed to skip it but Dad and youngest have been hit too.

I can't wait till next week when I am better.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. This is a classic example of free speech. It was also on the Opinion page. This is my absolutely most unfavorite time during the campaign process. The mudslinging, prodding, provoking and all the crap that really doesn't pertain to the candidates' ability to do the job.

I am thankful for our ability to speak our minds but think that more people need to practice these guidelines:

1. Is what I am saying absolutely true?
2. Is it absolutely necessary to say it?
3. Is it fair to all concerned?
4. Is my motive pure?

And so, they took over the world. Knocked the President out of the White House and painted it pink. That made it the pink house. They really don't know why they colored it pink. But they tried and tried and tried to get the good bunnies to go evil.

Memorial Day

We have much to be thankful for in the United States. We often take for granted the freedoms we have here. Check out Conni's blog here on Tuesday May, 13, 2008.

There once was a tribe of good bunnies and a tribe of evil bunnies. The evil bunnies traveled all around the bunny universe. They found a place called Earth. And they found an animal called monkeys and together they took over the universe. They went to a place called Kohl’s. They bought a bunny universe rocks shirt. In the magazine they found something called sports and houses and tasty juice.
